My friend experience with GVO and HostGator

Mark had asked for starting host for doing his cooking blog. I'm starting to share my experience to my handsome dude and don't forget to check them for the result...

Well I share Mark's experiences that he had with hosting.

Mark first went with GVO because had good price and he offered autoresponder included, overall the service is good, long use without problems, until one day his blog hung and was thus 2 days. I helping him to wrote to technical support and they did not respond until the problem was solved, to tell me that they did not see any problem, clear already two days had passed, and the problem was no longer, not even they asked for apologies, nor an explanation... nothing, individual I labelled crazy, tell me low with them very very pissed, Mark decide went to HostGator following to my advice, He has baby plan and no problem, what he likes the most is that he can pay with my Paypal and there are professional on support field. Mark didn't call me for the domain transfer process. He's very newbie, he start to contact the customer service with fast response and easy do it step-by-step following the supporter.

In short, highly recommended HostGator. I hope his experience to anyone.

HostGator vs Godaddy what's best VPS hosting provider?

First hand since I've tried the two services... who wins the battle for best between Hostgator and Knownhost VPS hosting provider? The answer at the end of the entry. First I tell you my experience with these American web hosting companies.

Prelude: Experience in Godaddy (Shared Server). From 2007 to 2010.

Like many people, I started hosting my websites on a shared server. My first mistake was to stay my domains at the same place where he had bought them: Godaddy. GoDaddy is an excellent company in terms of the management of domains, I would not recommend another (good prices, good management panel, you can do everything very easily). A 10 for them in this regard.

But the accommodation in Godaddy (Shared Hosting), I was not very well. Slow pages, had no option to manage the host with cpanel, some other security issue... Finally, weren't the experiences of others, but in my case (can have bad luck), after enduring almost 3 years, I decided to move to another web hosting company: HostGator.

Experience with HostGator - part I: (Shared Server). From 2010 to 2012.

I cannot have more than good words for the service offered by HostGator on their shared servers:
  • Excellent uptime
  • Excellent chat, tickets and phone customer service
  • Very competitive prices
  • Use of cpanel to control your account
  • Excellent security on the server
  • Not sold above their capabilities the server hosting
  • What was said. If you want to host your web in a good shared hosting, do not hesitate, HostGator is your choice.

Experience with HostGator - part II: (VPS). Two months in 2012.

Finally I decided to move a shared one dedicated Virtual (VPS) server and as I had had good experience in HostGator, I decided to continue with them.

Request to transfer all my domains to the new server (VPS Level 3 (CPU - 1.13 GHZ;)) RAM: 768 MB; Disk Space: 30 GB; Bandwidth: 500 GB; (cpanel/WHM + VZ 49.95$ / month, configured and controlled by its technicians), and as always, did it very well and quickly. In just a few days I had changed from the server.

And the problems started. Here I want to say, that it may be that what has happened to me to me is a timely issue, there are people who do well with them on your VPS, but the feeling that I have brought is that there are better options in terms of choice of VPS.

First problem : lousy Uptime. 98% in these two months (pingdom.com), the server was down, at least, more than 15 hours. Support, at first did not know tell me that it was happening. I thought it was a problem of my VPS, not of the Server full (I started to see peaks of RAM in Virtuozzo statistics). Finally got to learn that there were problems in the server (not just my VZ container) because another client (at least wasn't my fault) and that would solve it. The truth is that it took nearly 20 days to fix it. Wait patiently. Also told me that peaks of RAM in my VPS problems were caused by this situation. Once solved the problem, I realized that my container was still reaching peaks of RAM at certain times. Ask because, if still having problems on the server. The reply was that it was a problem of my scripts (WordPress) and it optimizes them or had to hire a top housing plan do? Sincerely do not believe that it was my problem... Would initially be a problem caused by another client on the server and now it was mine?

The second problem : in HostGator, if you want that you installed, for example "Memcache" on your server... you charge!. Yes, charge you... $ 25... I was surprised too... And so you a few more things...

Either way, HostGator customer service was always fast and efficient, that Yes, better put tickets that start a chat, the technical level is higher "in the zone tickets". After that, all problems were clear and uptime was increased to 99.82 % in the first month and stay high until today.

Conclusion: you may have a bad luck on the first experience of any hosting. But HostGator does good take care customer and their business. I'm satisfied with the result still making an income on their service.

Problems with Hostgator and Hosting tips

Problems with Hostgator and Hosting tips

After the last post about Comparison of Bluehost and HostGator. Today I'd like to specify the truth of any reviews on the internet.

Hostgator hosting services are one of the best options that can be found today. Requires a minimum of knowledge about server administration. But, on the other hand, we find several advantages.

For example, the ratio of active time (uptime) of the servers is 99.902% which cannot be said about services cheaper such as GoDaddy or HostMonster (to cite the most known).

On the other hand, some websites announced that most of its users publish very good reviews on Hostgator services. In fact, if we speak in numerical terms, some reviews say that for every 243 positive votes to Hostgator, we find only about 79 negatives. Which would mean that approximately 80% of its customers are satisfied. And this is totally false.

The reason for knowing it that it is fake is because I frequently visit was hosted forums and I constantly find Hostgator reviews and I would say that 50% are negative. Here are some examples obtained from the same Web page used as way to this article :

HostGator Announces unlimited services. And it is totally false. -User Truth

During the testing period, everything went great, but aftercare services to the customer became a nightmare. -User Sahara

I have been with them for more than 1 year and now I'm going. Service was good, you can get results in 30 minutes. But now, sometimes they need up to 16 hours to complete a critical ticket. The online service will give you different excuses without really helping you solve the problem. -User Tina

With this entry is not to prevent users to contract the services of Hostgator, I do not think that it is a bad company hosting and, finally and after, you will not find any perfect. However, I wish that this article would serve to warn the users that do not trust of a review, although it belongs to a blog. The information from a blog can guide, but never decide that hosting company choose, for this decision always is best to consult directly the views of the users and, for this reason, I recommend that you go through some specialized forums, like Web Hosting Talk.

HostGator and Bluehost Comparison

THE BEST AND THE SECOND BEST HOSTING

HostGator vs. BlueHost : Major differences

In this comparison, we will have two of the most hotly contested contenders of hosting providers. In the final part of the article I will propose the best way to get the best with your hosting and domain buying, is the formula that we use with our clients and also on our other web sites.

But first compare service features and look at what you can expect from both services.

Balance

The balance between the two is difficult to do. Both are without a doubt the market leader. My personal balance would be the following:

(1) Bluehost: Offer a single plan is a good strategy to offer all their options in a same pack, without having to think too much about what they will choose. The offer of a retention of title for one year is also tempting, but a reservation of domain is only $7 a year, which is not a great discount.

(2) Hostgator: They offer a great service to the customer, offers competitive and above all and above all have an amazing ability to absorb traffic. I receive thousands of visits on my websites, something difficult to assume many hosting servers, and Hostgator have never been affected. This is for me a guarantee of service and quality.

Warranty

One of the most interesting parts is the after-sales warranty. With Hostgator, you get a 45 day warranty in which we request that we be returned our money if we are not fully satisfied.

This is, in my opinion, a guarantee which also based the fact that they offer us maximum confidence. They are so confident of its robustness we have 45 days to test the service, and that the first month we get 0.01 dollars, so it is almost a month at zero cost with discount coupons.

The solution: Formula Hosting + domain

The best we can do? The formula of domain + hosting. With this method have the best prices for the same service, no doubt getting the best service along with some discounts of Fable.

I strongly suggest using this formula consisting of purchase your Godaddy domain name and hosting or web hosting with Hostgator, is what I call formula of domain + hosting:

STEPS:

(1) Go to Godaddy.com and there buy your domain for half price of what Hostgator offers it.

(2) Once this is done, go to hostgator.com and acquire your hosting. Here you can stay as many websites and domain names as you want if you choose a Hostgator baby plan.

Note: Use the coupons published in Hostgator coupons, and at the time of purchase the first month you only go to $0.01! THAT IS ALMOST FREE!

RESULT: you spend you half in your domain, and you get the highest quality in web hosting, without the risks and high costs.

Security policy: and if you want to change, return you the money until 3 months after purchasing your domain.

CONCLUSIONS

Both providers are solid competitors, many bloggers and webmasters of high-level recommend them equally. Personally I use Hostgator and I have never had a problem, my doubts have been resolved in a short time and operate with complete flexibility.

If you have any questions, remember that you would love to lend you a hand!
